Today I saw a little two month old Sheltie. Wonderful pup. Belongs to an established client so I am looking forward to watching him grow. -- You never know when you’re going to run into some fantastic surprise. Life -- even mine -- is sometimes so engaging that it makes me want to stay around for awhile.

Today I saw people who had evacuated their homes, unsure of whether or not they would have a home to return to, and they were helping one another, smiling, chatting lightly. I felt blessed to be in that with them. I don’t think I would have been so good natured as they were.

Today I didn't see my friend, ED. I had wanted to. I haven't seen her in almost two weeks and that's really too long for me. It's my own fault I didn't see her. I let a client meeting run long. Chatting mindlessly about dog food takes a lot of time, you know. E and I understand one another's commitments. She has a job and a family. I have a job and a job. We both volunteer. Maybe next week.

Today I saw a genuine smile on the face of a man whom I know has little or no reason to be happy. Hope, irrational joy, trumps sunsets and grasshoppers. It is the most amazing thing I see.
