Today I saw a big, brave, strong dog cowering in fear because of thunder. Guess we all have our issues.
What I saw today...

Today I watched my dog run through the tall grass, jump onto high ledges, swim to the other side of the lake. So happy to be fully alive and in his element. I feel that it's important to get him out into nature often because it's his natural environment. Rowan ain't no lap dog, that's for sure. He's about half wild I think. He needs to experience his home environment as often as possible.
Everything is that way. Like fish, for example, they need air. Yet if you take them out of water they die. In the same way, birds need water but if you hold them down in it they will die too. Rowan's life only makes sense to the extent that he lives by his natural instincts. Otherwise, he will die.
It is the same for me. My life only makes sense in the context of the church. It's absurd really in any other context. I am dying. I know it. Sometimes I get a gasp of breath, maybe two. But, mainly I am dying.

Today I saw a big fat roadrunner walking along the side of the road. Very calm, not hurried, unaware of me whipping by at 70 mph. I stopped and backed up. One foot in front of another. Not a care in the world. Just concentrating on being a roadrunner.

Well, it's another damn bumpersticker.
I had to drive out to Lubbock this week and I had the opportunity to see more bumperstickers than I really would have cared to see. There're a lot of those confederate flags flying around out there in bumper-ville.
Anyway, this one said, If You Want Peace, Prepare For War. That is stupid. If you want peace then be peaceful. Anybody can tell you that. If, on the other hand, you prepare for war it is likely that is what you'll get.
So we have here another complete lie that has made it into urban consciousness.

Today I saw a bumpersticker that said No Jesus, No Peace... Know Jesus, Know Peace. I see that bumpersticker everywhere. It's stupid.
I can understand why the government might advocate such an opiate but not a Christian. I've been through this on this blog before so will not belabor the point. Just to say how pervasive this misconception had become.

Today I see that the Crepe Myrtle are in bloom.
Myrtle... not briers but something more cultivated. Sweet and meek. Growng in the low places. And today they were in full bloom.

Yesterday I saw a little baby fawn. It was grazing with some adult deer in on the grounds surrounding the J. So graceful, trusting.
